My full name is Henrik Thode, I am 16 years old and I was born in Pinneberg/Germany. My German home is Borstel-Hohenraden,
a town not far away from Hamburg in the north of Germany. My American home is in Strykersville, NY which is near to Buffalo.
I have many interests such as soccer, traveling, politics/economics and computers.
After my exchange year I plan to finish school and to proceed to college/university.
I have several goals for my educational AFS exchange. I want to serve as a worthy youth ambassador for Germany,
I want to make new friendships for a lifetime, to learn about the American Way of Life and therefore gain a new perspective
of this world. This year also contributes to future careers by improving my language skills and my internationality.

In celebration of 300 years of German immigration to the United States the
CBYX program was established to emphasize and ensure friendship and understanding between the U.S. and Germany.
Since 1983 the program founded and sponsored by the government of the United States and the Federal
Republic of Germany has provided scholarships to study in another country to gain a lifetime experience.
